Independence Day in San Diego

There are more fires reported on Independence Day than any other day of the year. Half of those fires are caused by fireworks. In 2008, fireworks caused an estimated 22,500 reported fires, including 1,400 structure fires, 500 vehicle fires, and 20,600 outside and other fires. These fires resulted in an estimated $42 million in direct property damage. In 2017, eight people died and over 12,000 were injured badly enough to require medical treatment after fireworks-related incidents. Although it is illegal for consumers to set off fireworks in San Diego County and City, you can still take advantage of the numerous fireworks shows put on throughout the county. Below are a list of fireworks shows taking place on the evening of 4th of July:
- ANNUAL BIG BAY BOOM JULY 4 FIREWORKS SHOW – All along the San Diego Bay; fireworks start at 9pm
- SEAWORLD SAN DIEGO 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS – Seaworld; fireworks start at 9:40pm
- OCEAN BEACH JULY 4TH CELEBRATION – Ocean Beach; fireworks start at 9pm
- SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION – Del Mar; fireworks start at 9pm
- RED, WHITE AND BOOM! – Legoland Oceanside; fireworks start at 8:30pm
